Each day you can attend activities to earn points for your Residence Hall. The chart at collegecup.truman.edu/daily_events.asp tells you which activities are included in the Challenge. See your Truman Week schedule for locations.
You can earn points toward the College Cup by visiting and becoming acquainted with some of the offices and services on campus that are here to help you during your Truman experience. Some Truman Week classes may visit these offices as a group. However you get there, remember to pick up a card, fill it out and turn it in to your SA before noon on Saturday. Some of the offices may require that you participate in an activity to “earn” your card so be prepared for some “active learning.” The offices that you can visit to earn Exploring Truman points appear at collegecup.truman.edu/exploring_truman.asp along with their location and times that you can visit.
Diversity Activities
You can earn points toward the College Cup by completing five activities designed to help you learn about and celebrate diversity. Just remember to collect a card as you complete each activity and turn it into your SA by noon on Saturday. The activities are:
Do you know the last person to walk on the moon? Do you know lots of other Trivia? Earn points for your Residence Hall by showing off your knowledge of Truman and general information by participating in Truman's own question and answer game modeled after the popular quiz show Jeopardy. Three teams of three players each compete in the Trivia Challenge. Intra-Hall games take place on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. See your SA for specific locations and times for your Residence Hall.
The preliminary inter-hall rounds start at 11:30 am on Saturday, August 23 in the Activities Room of the Student Union. Grim, Ryle, and Centennial face off in the preliminary game while Missouri, West Campus, and Blanton-Nason-Brewer face off in the second preliminary game. The winners of the preliminary games and the highest second place score will compete in the finals on Saturday at 7 pm in Baldwin Auditorium.
Check out the Challenge Cup Website (collegecup.truman.edu) for all the official Trivia rules.
How well do you work with your classmates? Show off your teamwork by participating in the Ridiculous Relays and help your Hall win the Challenge Cup.
The interest session and planning meeting will be held in each Hall Tuesday (4:00 – 5:30 pm). The preliminary intra-Hall challenges will be held Wednesday (3:30 – 5:20 pm). See your student advisor for specific times and locations for your hall. The preliminary events consist of the Spoon Relay, TP relay, Bat Round Relay, and Stepping Stones. Consult the Challenge Cup Website for all the official rules.
The finals are at 10:30 am on Saturday at the Recreation Field behind Centennial Hall (the multipurpose gym in the Student Recreation Center if it rains). The events are a surprise but they will require teamwork and agility. Don't forget that you can earn points for your Hall by coming to watch the finals.
Do you like to dance or sing along to your favorite songs? Do you enjoy performing in front of a crowd? If so, become a part of your Hall’s Lip Sync Team. Ask your SA for details on how to join your Hall’s team.
Teams will show off their routines on Saturday night at 7:00 pm in Baldwin Auditorium immediately following the Trivia Challenge Finals. Lip Sync teams are judged on originality/creativity, stage presence, lip-synching, choreography, hall cheer, and audience response—so even if you don't want to be on stage, come and cheer for your Hall.
Are you crafty? Do you enjoy working with Popsicle sticks, string, cardboard, and other random objects? If so, help your Residential Hall in the Yard Art Competition.
The intra-Hall competitions occur on Wednesday afternoon from 3:30 to 5:20 pm in your residence hall. Ask your student advisor for your hall's specific location. You’ll participate in a small competition involving simple objects before moving on to the main competition.
The Hall-to-Hall competition occurs as a part of Dawg Fest on Saturday, from 2-5pm on the Quad. Teams from each Hall will construct sculptures out of miscellaneous items. Judging begins at 4:00. Check out collegecup.truman.edu) for all the official rules.
If you don't want to help your Hall construct its sculpture, don't forget to stop by to see the finished artwork.
